FAQ

Do you use real fur in your costumes?
In general no. I do occasionally use real hair (such as horse hair for manes) but that is a rare exception. Real fur is not suitable for costumes except as accents on props.

Where can I buy fur?
www.crscraft.com – Realistic furs. Ignore the short pile and fun fur as it is not good for anything except small accents. www.imstuffedfur.com – High quality random assortment of furs. www.interiormall.com – solid colors of fluffy fur for toonier characters

Do you see from the eyes of the head? How well can one see?
No. Vision is through mesh near the eyes (the ‘tearducts’). Vision depends on the style of head, but generally forward vision is excellent but there is little or no peripheral vision. If you have a hard time with your eyes in low light situations let me know and I can use a looser woven mesh for better overall visibility.

What are your heads made of?
My heads are made from either soft foam, stiff foam, or hard plastic. I change materials depending on the situation and character. The eyes are resin. The teeth are cast plastic. The inside is lined with fleece or spandex.

Where do you buy your teeth/eyes/nose/etc?
I cast, mold, sculpt, and make almost every aspect of each suit. I do sell various fursuit supplies including pawpads, eyes, antlers, etc on my fursuit supplies page: http://www.beetlecatoriginals.com/suppliessale.html

Do you sell unfurred heads?
No. I only sell 100% complete heads, feet, hooves, etc.

Can I supply the fur for a commission?
Maybe. I have to see a sample of the fur first to know if it is something I can work with. I will refuse to use low-quality furs as it will result in a subpar suit. I also cannot use certain length or types of fur depending on where and how they are to be used.

Will you make me a Red XIII/pikachu/Link Wolf/Amaterasu Cosplay costume?
No. I will not make a copyrighted characters on commission. Please do not ask and do not suggest ways to ‘get around’ the legalities that you found on cosplay forums. The 10% rule does not actually exist.

How much do you charge for a fursuit?
Contact me for a quote. Heads start at $800 while a full costume can be $2000 +

Do you take requests? Trades?
No I do NOT do requests. I may do small trades but my list of wants is incredibly small and mostly limited to professionally made silver/bone/leather jewelry and horns/antlers suitable to be molded and used in fursuits.

Can you make costume props?
Maybe. Clothing likely not but I'm not too terrible at sculpting. Contact me and ask.

How do I make a fursuit?
I am often happy to give advice on specific questions regarding your own fursuit attempts but for general questions like this I cannot help you. Instead I will direct you to http://community.livejournal.com/fursuit/ where you can get your questions answered.

How do you make your heads/make your jaws/make your paw/etc?
Here is my tutorial page: http://www.beetlecatoriginals.com/tutorials.html Feel free to suggest ideas for future tutorials but (until then) what I have is what I have and I can not explain every single technique that I use over and over to various people.
